Two Out of Three Aint Bad!

Today I had three things that I wanted to be sure to get done:

1. Hang the bedpan in our office. (I know, I know, enough already about that raunchy bedpan! I swear this is it. But isn't it efficient? It's like it was meant to be!)

2. Take a better picture of those mini-cookie cutter letters and shapes for you to "ooh and ahh" over. Fun, huh? I believe Nicky was the master stager for this photo??

3. Finish working on a $1.00 desk drawer (from a garage sale last summer) turned foot stool. Unfortunately... the foot stool needed a bit more TLC before its photo shoot, soo....

There's always tomorrow, right?!

Doesn't that little phrase remind you of the 1964 Classic Rudolph Christmas Special when Clarice sings "There's Always Tomorrow"? I just love that part. Who am I kidding? I love that whole movie. My apologies for the early Christmas reference; but after all, Halloween goods have been on the shelves for a month!

Move over freshvintage!

After about a bottle and a half of wine for me and several beers for the other three last night(Josh, Nic and Mc), Nicky and I woke up slightly less than bright eyed and bushy tailed, might we say, this a.m. for saling. But like the troopers we are, we got out there and braved the crowds for the goods! It didn't take us long to spring into action either. Check out the finds and be sure to click and enlarge the pics. I promise they are way more fun that way!

Blue table for 1.00, several cookbooks (many vintage) for FREE, Pyrex dish for .25, a vintage decorating guide for Free. Not too bad if I do say so myself!

A 3.00 vintage bar stool, and some never worn children's rubber boots for .25. Ok, ok, I know I don't have a child, but those darn boots were irrestible. So CUTE!

A burlap sack bag w/ zipper for .25, 2 white shabby chic pots for 1.00 total, and holy-cow 5 brass horns for .50!!!! I don't mean to toot my own horn, but golllly~

All hardware, strips of lace fabric, and bookends = free!

Teapot for 1.00, teacup-four saucers-picture frame-All About Sandwiches vintage booklet all for 1.00, 2 guest hand towels for 1.00, a huge green tray with a lace texture on the bottom for 1.00, and a basket for .50. Do I smell a tea party with finger sandwiches in our future ladies?!

My super duper wooden rocking horse for 2.00 and the difficult to see white watering can for .25.

My 3.50 shabby chic chair. Can't wait to cover it with the 1.00 roll of pink velvet fabric we scored. The fabric, however, went home with Nicky as she tries her hand at becoming the official seamstress of the Dirty Birdie Team.

Old knitting books (sweet bowl cut on the lady in the poncho, huh?!) and a vintage hard-cover Mother Goose (btw-I was Mother Goose in the Kindergarten graduation play 24 years ago, little did they know how much that title doesn't suit me!)

Five more books that were a package deal with the ones above for a total of 1.00. How fun is the Round About: The Alice and Jerry Books book? And How about that tan one in the middle of the stack. It's called Games People Play! That oughta solve all my problems!!! Now don't try to play games with me People!

Here we are unloading the Jeep from the morning shift. Nicky is clearly delirious from her latest bout with hunger, as it is almost 2:00 and we have not had anything to eat since 8' something. She wants my fashion advice on her new .50 lamp shade as an accessory to her new hair cut. Whaddaya think people?

Here is our super short afternoon shift findings. It was short for several reasons a couple of which are: (1) We didn't finish eating and get back out until about 2:30. (2) We only had time enough for one stop after lunch because we had a meeting. "With who?", you ask. We're saving it for another post. Stay tuned!

Everything you see here (in the next 3 pics.) came to 5.00. That's right folks, five dollars. Check out the vintage Jack-In-The-Box in a metal box. Wowwee! I will list the other things because the afternoon pics. didn't turn out too well. Two wine tins, Brer Rabbits vintage cookbook, three vintage children's books, a set of bells on a rope, 2 rolls of ribbon, 2 spindles, a very old yard stick, an ornamental scrolly thingy (couldn't think of the name of it), and best.of.all. = an ugly peppermint tin full of teeny tiiny, itty bitty cookie cutter letters and shapes. I will try to get a better pic of them so I can share them with you tomorrow. The light from the flash kept reflecting a glare.

Colleen from freshvintage would be proud...but I have to imagine jealous as well!

And The Winner Is...

Nicole Cunha

One of my bestest buds, Nicky, (and the only person exciting enough to take a guess apparently) is the winner of the "guess the pan" contest. Remember that crazy looking rectangular pan from the Crossroads Country Mall - well it's a bedpan and Nicky guessed it!! She also knew exactly what I plan to do with it, which is organize bills and mail. It's perfect for that and when I bought it they assured me it had never been used, soo... I'm still a bit confused about how it was intended to be used, not that I want to, but I am certainly curious about it. I sat on it today trying to figure it out, but I'm still not sure (yes, I know, I have no job remember!)?? Any volunteers for a demonstration are welcome. Yes, a pretend demonstration, of course!

So here is what the big winner received:

A gorgeous bundle of hydrangeas wrapped in burlap with a satiny ribbon, a "K" that I decorated with scrapbook paper (for KING - her soon to be last name) or maybe for Kitchen if she chooses to put it there, and a delicious (and still warm - might I add) loaf of lemon poppyseed bread wrapped in cream fabric with a pretty brown ribbon. And, 0h yeah, a note letting her know that she is the winner! Hopefully she likes hydrangeas, lemon poppyseed bread and her soon to be last name!

Pray for Paula

I am dedicating this post to one of my bestest friends, Paula, pictured above with me. Her brother and his wife were in a terrible motorcycle accident over the weekend. Both are in guarded condition and they can use our thoughts and prayers. We LOVE YOU PAULA and we're thinking of you and your family.

What is going on with you readers = nobody wants to play my game? I know, I know, I need to recruit new/more readers. And I'm working on that - so pass the word. Only 1 person has taken a guess at what my half covered pan is and how I will use it. Another person wanted to take a guess, but admitted that she had no idea. And that was IT? Come on guys...play along. Tomorrow is your last chance!!!!!!

FINALLY HERE! More Rejected Dresses

FINALLY! Here are the rest of the pics. Lindsay really wants the back of the dress to lace up like the picture above. However, she wants it to do so without having the white piece of fabric behind it. I'm learning that it is difficult finding the perfect dress. God knows I may NEVER get married, but if I do maybe I won't wear a dress at all and save myself all the trouble!!

Dress Shopping

The BIG DAY is now less than one year away. I was invited to go dress shopping with my future sister-in-law today. She tried on so many beautiful dresses, but is confident that none of them are "the ONE". So the search will continue... Until she find the one, here is a peak at those that did not make the cut. I will post 2 more times to show you the rest. I had trouble uploading the pics. after the 1st five.

Stop And Smell The Hydrangeas?

Actually hydrangeas don't really have much of a smell, but....Do you just love this centerpiece that I have on the counter in my kitchen? I do. I placed each flower individually in an arrangement of jars in a wooden tray that I rescued from its demise and quickly painted for an autumn centerpiece I made a few years ago. Although autumn is right around the corner, I plan to cling tightly to the last days of summer. Cutting these beauties from my flower garden is helping me do just that. And since the tray is already out, it will make for a quick transition to the leaves and gourds that will adorn it soon enough! I also pulled out my favorite jar from the collection to show you - the detail on it has vines of flowers - it so cuuuuute!

Come on and take a guess at what that weird looking enamel thing from yesterday's post is. I haven't had anybody give it a whirl yet and I'm anxious to hear what you think it may be! There could be something special in it for the first person to guess correctly!!!!!!!
